Anthony Joseph ticket offer – Bring a friend for free!
Applies both to tickets already purchased and to new purchases

We’re excited to announce a last-minute offer for all ticket holders for the Anthony Joseph event presented in partnership by NQ Jazz and mjf at The Yard on Wednesday 25 May at 7.30pm.

Thanks to additional available capacity, you can now bring a friend for free to this event – simply by bringing them with you to the event and presenting your ticket or proof of purchase at the door.

This offer is limited to one guest per person on a first come, first served basis, and will be terminated once the venue reaches capacity. Please note this event is standing only. A small number of seats can be made available for those cannot remain standing, but these must be requested in advance by contacting NQ Jazz.

Anthony Joseph is a British-Trinidadian poet, novelist, musician and lecturer described as ‘the leader of the black avant-garde in Britain’. His written work and performance occupies a space between surrealism, Jazz and the rhythms of Caribbean speech and music.

Operating as a dedication to poetic ancestors and a coming together of musical generations, The Rich are Only Defeated When Running for their Lives is also an almighty jam. Recorded live last August, it shows off the prowess of a team of master musicians (Shabaka Hutchings among others) from Paris and London. Jason Yarde, who also produced Joseph’s 2018 album is credited as producer/composer/arranger.

He is the author of four poetry collections and three novels. As a musician, he has released eight critically acclaimed albums, and in 2020 received a Paul Hamlyn Foundation Composers Award. He holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths University and is a Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at De Montfort University, Leicester.

Note – This is a standing show.

In addition to the link to purchase an e-ticket on this page, tickets can also be purchased in-person in advance at NQ Jazz gigs.
