Sara Colman & Rebecca Nash
St Ann’s Church
Centred around a song Sara and Rebecca wrote together called Ribbons, this collection of new works celebrates the joy of musical partnership, of friendship and collaboration.
Lyrically, the songs examine life’s stories and opportunities. Using beautiful melodies to set the scene for improvisation and drawing on contemporary classical, folk and songwriter influences, their music is firmly rooted within a jazz context. They aim to draw people into their sound world and hope that, on leaving after the performance, the audience will feel a sense of having taken a journey of exploration with the musicians.
Musical inspirations include John Taylor, Esperanza Spalding, Taylor Eigsti, Becca Stevens, John Tavener, Ravel and Joni Mitchell.
