The Deportees are a Liverpool-based jazz sextet whose members hail from five different countries. Their music is raw and lively, spurred on by the eclectic writing of the two leaders Alex McDowall and Pablo Sonnaillon.
Influenced by Charlie Haden and Pierre Dorge, they write unexpected, dramatic melodies, laced with daring improvisation.
