The Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra (TSJO) is a 20-piece big band based in Leeds, known for its high-energy performances and wide-ranging repertoire, and led by trumpeter and musical director Tom Sharp. For this mjf gig, they’ll be focussing on the repertoire of the legendary jazz composer Duke Ellington.
TSJO began life as a rehearsal big band, going on to performing at the Seven Arts Christmas Concert, and subsequently winning the prestigious Great North Big Band Competition. The ensemble has since gone from strength to strength and is now firmly established as one of the north’s most celebrated large jazz ensembles.
