The 24th mjf returns to the city from May 23–27 2019 – and there’ll be some exciting changes.

As we are unable to use Albert Square while the town hall renovations take place, we’re moving the festival hub to a new city centre location. In 2019, we’ll cover the length of St Ann’s Square and Exchange Street with a host of free stages, food stalls and festival bars. As usual, we’ll stage gigs at a number of tried and tested venues across the city and a few new ones this time round to mix things up.

St Ann’s Square was the site of the very first manchester jazz festival all those years ago, so this will be somewhat of a homecoming for us, albeit to a much bigger home with much more to offer.

We’ve also moved the festival to the late May Bank Holiday weekend as after a few very rainy festivals in previous years, we’ve decided to chance our luck with a time of year that usually gets much more sunshine.

We’re planning several waves of announcements around our 2019 programme. See below for all the gigs so far.
