Could you be the next Chair of the UK’s most adventurous jazz festival? manchester jazz festival (mjf) is seeking a new Chair to lead the organisation and the Board of Trustees through its next period of development, including the 30th anniversary in 2025 and new core funding periods from 2027.

Professor Kirsty Fairclough, mjf’s chair for the last 6 years, has reached the end of her term. An interim Chair is currently in place, and we are looking for an inspirational cultural leader to guide the organisation through our next period of development. NB: Residency in Manchester is not mandatory.

Shortlisted candidates – including any existing trustees – will be invited to interview, in the presence of the current Chair, up to two other trustees, the CEO and GM. In keeping with our ACE funding agreement, the interview may also be observed by our ACE Relationship Manager. Following this, candidates will be invited to observe the next board meeting on 27 January 2025, at which the extant trustees will cast a vote to elect the candidate(s) onto the board as a Trustee. The honorary positions of Chair (and Vice-chair if required) will then be ratified via vote by the Trustees.
